When I started taking photos I did not have a DSLR, only an Iphone and as a result I found that I could not Zoom in and get long distance shots so I did the opposite and real close to my subject and began to shoot. What I noticed is that you can really capture a different world entirely by being up close and taking shots that someone else may not care about because they are used to the typical photo shooting. Below are a few tips if you find yourself only shooting with a mobile device or a small camera that is limited with Zooming.
1. GET CLOSE TO EVERYTHING AND PHOTOGRAPH IT
Close Up photography can be literally of everything and it is especially true for flowers. Most flowers are colorful and can give you a view of something unique. Get close to everything and shoot away.
2. IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE PERFECT
when you take photos, the subject may not be perfect. Simply take the shots you need a choose the best one. For the above sidewalk chalk, it was left unattended and it created a great close up shot because it makes the viewer wonder.
3. CREATE YOUR OWN SUBJECT
For this shot, I grabbed this from the floor and squeezed it to add some other elements and took a photo. Use stuf around you or create your own subject and snap away.
4. USE DEPTH OF FIELD
Taking a close up shot also involves using the background. In this shot, I used the back of the fence to give the viewer a nice depth of field. This gives the shot more than just the close up.
I hope these tips have helped you in taking better close up photos. The advantages of an mobile device are that you can literally take photos of everything and give viewers something different to look at.
